Din Timișoara în jurul Europei pe apă

From Timisoara around Europe on water

Wild Watch Association announces the launch of CIRCUMEUROPA, the first river-sea expedition of a Romanian crew around Europe.

The perspective of this unique expedition in Romania encompasses both the scientific dimension by researching the level of pollution of the waters through which the crew will navigate, and the cultural one, sailing and generating performances in over 15 of the current and former European Capitals of Culture. Linking 5 rivers, 4 seas, an ocean and 5 straits, with a boat, the ideal ambassador of the fact that Timisoara is also accessible from the water, through this cultural-scientific exploration we identified the need to raise awareness that the Bega River can be an important gateway to any place in Europe. Starting from Romania, the route of the exploration includes Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Malta, France, Spain, Portugal, Great Britain, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary, passing through some of the current and former European Capitals of Culture.

“Healthy waters are fundamental to all life on earth, but unfortunately they are at a critical juncture right now. Culture is essential to our becoming intelligent beings. Sport is the foundation of human health. We are determined to do all we can to help. It is a huge challenge to become proactive in the coming years when we talk about the environment and culture. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact at European level. Through Culture, Science and Sport we have the power to accelerate change, we have no time to lose.” Cristian Ilea, initiator of CIRCUMEUROPA.

To kick-start this expedition with cultural and research implications, the CIRCUMEUROPA team is open to collaborations, encouraging the involvement of funders and partners.

In this regard, we invite those who wish to collaborate to contact us by e-mail and telephone (contact@circumeuropa.com +40723226640 – Cristian Ilea).
